PIGEON TOE CERAMICS
Founded in Portland, Oregon in 2009, Pigeon Toe Ceramics is the brainchild of fine artist and designer Lisa Jones. With a flair for modern, Scandinavian design and a knack for the craft, Lisa and her team lovingly mold each vessel, basin and bowl with delicate strength.
The process used by Lisa harks back to an older era when machines weren’t available to do the ‘heavy lifting’ of production. Each and every piece that comes out of the Pigeon Toe Ceramics studio bears the mark of the human hand – each thrown on the wheel and carefully nursed to their finished state. Working exclusively in porcelain, the fickle but most lovely clay body around, Lisa crafts beautiful, modern and affordable heirloom ceramics with a story.
Playful and charming, Pigeon Toe Ceramics redefine the rustic chic aesthetic with casual irreverence. Lisa’s products transcend trends, leaving behind an heirloom that’s hardly old-fashioned. Polished and refined, yet naturally imperfect, Pigeon Toe Ceramics is inspired by a new age of homegrown, depression-era aesthetics. Clean and tactile, white and pure.
About Lisa...
After learning how to throw in fourth grade, designer Lisa Jones spent a lifetime avoiding pottery. From graphic design to marketing to video installation, Jones steered clear from life in craft until her longing to work with her hands took her full-circle, back to her days as a 9-year-old ceramicist. From then on, it’s been a love affair with the wheel.
With an aversion to fast-paced and mass-produced pottery, Lisa formed Pigeon Toe Ceramics so that she could create uniquely beautiful goods that incorporate a touch of history in every piece. The sort of history that can be valued, but not bought. Treasured, but not replicated.
Just as Lisa’s life has taken new shape as owner of Pigeon Toe Ceramics, her handmade vessels are uniquely and lovingly molded. Through a two-week process, each piece is carefully nurtured — from her studio to your home, from two weeks to a lifetime. Whether serving tea from mini creamers or displaying lilacs from a cast pharmacy bottle, each vessel’s inner smile shines through.
Through hard work and organic growth, Pigeon Toe Ceramics is a creative evolution. Much like each vessel shaped, Lisa has lovingly crafted a sustainable, aware product harking back to an era where artisans not only create, but inspire.
