TOWNSEND BAY SOAP COMPANY

Townsend Bay Soap Company makes fine, handmade bar soap and products for bath and body, beautifully scented with pure essential oils or fine fragrances.

Located in the beautiful Victorian seaport of Port Townsend, Washington, TBSC is a family-run company, making all of their bar soaps by hand and testing them only on family and friends.

How Townsend Bay Soap Company started...

"My great-grandmother used to make bread twice a week, grow her own vegetables, and make soap for her husband and their nine children.  Such tasks, plus many more, were simply a routine part of her life as a homesteader in California's Mother Lode gold country back in the late 1800s.

"Today at Townsend Bay Soap Company, the soap ingredients are finer and our methods more streamlined than those of my great-grandmother, but the basic concept is exactly the same. Our bar soaps are made entirely by hand, in small batches, using the best ingredients we can find, and are allowed to cure for at least one month. At the end of that time, we have beautiful bars that are nutrient-rich, help soften skin, and provide wonderful fragrance and lather.

"Soon after starting our business, our daughter joined the fold with a line of carefully crafted bath and body products.  Several years ago, after our daughter and her husband started their family, my sister bought that portion of the business, and today she makes all of our bath and body products - everything but the bar soaps, which I still make.  My husband serves as equipment inventor, shipping clerk and accountant.

"We still love what we do and take great pride in bath and body products that are created with great care.  Compared to the days of my great-grandmother, it's a whole new and very exciting bath and body world!"
